Who we are
The DOT Project by Kabeer ("DOT", "we") is run by Kabegrip Design and Engineering, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. We run practical learning sessions for students and institutions, and we decide how the personal data described here is used. For anything in this policy, write to thedotproject@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Contact form: the topic, your name, designation, email, phone, institute or organisation, country and message.
- Course application: your name, email, phone, college, the course you choose, topics you want to explore and any notes you add.
- Request a quote: your institution type and name, your name, email and phone, number of students, the program and duration you want and any requirements you add.
- DOT App early access: your name, email, college or institution, role and area of interest.
- Student accounts: your name, email, phone and college, your password (stored only as a secure hash), profile details you add, your application, the work you submit, your community posts, and when you agreed to our terms.
- Payments: when you pay a session fee you do so on Razorpay's secure payment page, which collects your card, UPI or bank details directly. We never see them; Razorpay tells us the payment ID, amount, date, whether it succeeded, and the name, email and phone you paid with.
- Site usage: anonymous page-view statistics, only if you accept analytics. See our Cookie Policy.
Why we use it
Only to reply to your message, prepare quotations, arrange and run sessions, run your student account, process payments, keep the site secure, and, if you accept analytics, understand which pages are useful. We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Children
You can create your own account only if you are 18 or older. Students under 18 take part through their school or college, which collects consent from a parent or guardian before sharing their details with us. We do not track children's behaviour or show them targeted advertising. If we find we hold a child's data without that consent, we delete it.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms. Remembering small preferences and anonymous analytics are optional: they stay off until you allow them, and you can change your choice at any time. The full list is in our Cookie Policy.
Who we share it with
Only the DOT team can see contact messages, applications and student submissions. We use these service providers to run the site, and they process data only on our instructions:
- Vercel, which hosts the website and provides the anonymous analytics;
- Neon, which hosts our database;
- Razorpay, which processes online payments;
- our email provider, which sends account and session emails.
Your data travels over encrypted connections. Some providers may store it outside India, with safeguards in place. We share data with the authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages, applications and quote requests: up to 24 months.
- Student account data: while your account is active. If an account is inactive for 3 years, we email you at least 48 hours before deleting it, so you can sign in to keep it.
- Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (up to 8 years).
- After a deletion request: removed within 90 days, except records the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask what data we hold about you and how we use it;
- ask us to correct, complete or update it;
- ask us to erase it;
- withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it (this does not affect what we did before);
- nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to;
- raise a grievance with us, and then with the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.
Email thedotproject@gmail.com from the address you used with us. We respond within 30 days.
Grievance officer
Mohammed Kabeer, Kabegrip Design and Engineering, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Email thedotproject@gmail.com. We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days.
If something goes wrong
If a security breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India without delay, explaining what happened and what you can do.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above, and tell account holders by email if the change is significant.
